Privacy Policy
OAS Alt Text is a PowerPoint add-in built by Renaissance Intelligence that writes alt text for images in your slides and, on the Pro plan, runs automatic accessibility fixes on a whole deck or selected slides. This page explains what data the add-in sends, what it keeps, and how to reach us with questions.
What we send to the AI provider
When you ask the add-in to generate alt text for one image, we send only that image and the nearby text on that slide (used as context so the description matches the surrounding content) to our AI provider. No other slides, no other images, and no document metadata are sent.
Fixing a whole deck or selected slides (Pro)
When you choose Fix with OAS, the add-in sends a copy of your presentation to the Online Accessibility Suite remediation service, which we run on Amazon Web Services in the United States. If you chose one slide or selected slides, only those slides are processed. The service applies automatic accessibility fixes (for example alt text, reading order, slide titles, colour contrast, language and table headers) and returns the fixed slides to PowerPoint, which replaces the originals only after you confirm. To write alt text and check structure, images and slide text from the processed slides are sent to our AI provider.
The copy is held only while it is processed: it is deleted as soon as the fixed slides are returned to you, and at the latest 15 minutes after processing ends if they are never collected (including when a run fails or is cancelled). We do not keep your presentation, its images or its text, and we do not use them to train AI models.
What we retain
We do not store the images, slides or slide text you send. Each generation, and each deck or slide fix, writes a single cost-accounting log entry containing: the number of input and output tokens (for deck fixes, the total AI cost), the dollar cost, a timestamp, and the email address on your account. This log is used solely to track usage against your plan's generation cap and is not used to reconstruct or review the content you generated alt text for.
Account and sign-in
You sign in with your existing Microsoft or Google account. We receive only your email address and display name from the sign-in provider — we do not receive your password, and we do not request access to your files, calendar, or contacts.
Generations and billing
Every account starts with 10 free alt-text generations. After that, continued use requires a paid subscription: Basic at $6.99/month or Pro at $19.99/month. Subscriptions are billed and processed by Stripe; we do not store your card details. You can cancel anytime from Manage plan inside the add-in, which opens the Stripe Customer Portal.
Data sharing
We share data only with the vendors needed to run the service: our AI provider (to generate alt text and check slides), Amazon Web Services (hosting and processing), Stripe (to process payments), and Microsoft or Google (to authenticate sign-in). We do not sell your data.
